Opportunities for Government Focused Partners Expand with Avaya Networking and Brocade Data Center Acquisitions

Networking infrastructure is both an enabler and driver of digital transformation in federal government. At Extreme Networks, our product line and partner ecosystem have steadily grown to support the needs of smart government. The upcoming acquisitions of Avaya Networking and Brocade’s data center business are important steps in fulfilling our strategy for expanding our government business. These major additions build on the earlier acquisitions of Enterasys and Zebra Technologies’ wireless LAN business to give Extreme a complete networking solution from edge to core supported by a broad base federal partners.

With the Avaya and Brocade acquisitions, we’re able to offer government customers an expanded portfolio of networking solutions that meet the growing needs for security, visibility, flexibility, and quality of experience demanded by smart government. The additions include Avaya’s unique fabric technology, which brings with it automation, simplicity, and security to infrastructure environments. The Brocade acquisition, which we expect to close in September, will bring VDX, MLX, SLX, CES, CER, Brocade Workflow Composer, Automation Suites and certain other data center related products that are synergistic with the Avaya Networking and existing Extreme portfolios, and are also ideally suited for the government space. We look forward to welcoming many of the Avaya and Brocade partners to a stable and growing organization, with strong opportunities for partner growth and profit.

It is now simpler than ever for government agencies to purchase Extreme’s networking solutions, thanks to our partnership with immixGroup, Inc. the premier company for hosting contract vehicles and helping resellers do business with the government. Our channel partners are able to sell Extreme products to federal, state, and local government customers via the GSA Schedule 70 contract vehicle held by immixGroup.

Extreme has a number of switching and routing products on the Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) Approved Products List (APL) for unified communications (UC). The UC APL is the single approving authority for all military departments and Department of Defense (DoD) agencies in the purchasing of communications equipment to be connected to the Defense Information Systems Network. What’s more, several of these products have completed and passed the Unified Capabilities Certification Office’s (UCCO) Unified Capabilities Requirements (UCR) Assured Services LAN (ASLAN) section of testing.  The testing, commonly known as “JITC testing,” consists of an Information Assurance (IA) section and an Information Operability (IO) section. These testing standards evaluate interoperability between vendors. We are committed to meeting the stringent standards of our government customers through our certification and acquisition program.
