Brendan Bonner is a member of the OCTO team. He is a telecoms industry veteran with 25 years at the cutting edge of innovation in mobile & fixed networks, ensuring technology and the opportunities it presents stay relevant in public and private spheres, and the future we are building together.
Over his career, he has worked on telecoms standards from 2G to 5G, cloud computing and X-vertical business transformation and will continue to focus on initiatives to make technology more efficient, secure, and future proofed for Industry, Governments and Society.
Prior to joining the OCTO, Brendan was chief technologist for the Irish government’s inward investment agency, and worked with almost all the top global ICT and cloud leaders on transformation and research opportunities. A regular speaker on AI, Communications and Emerging Technologies, he has also acted as lead advisor on National AI and Quantum Technology Strategies and board member of the National Digital Innovation Fund as well as the cofounding chair of Blockchain Ireland.
A proud engineer at heart, Brendan recently completed an MSc in Artificial Intelligence and advocates for lifetime learning and diversity in continuous training, and is willing to discuss music, science fiction, politics, history and of course - technology.
